Mary was born September 21, 1930 in Saint Peter's Hospital and spent her entire life in New Brunswick and North Brunswick. She enjoyed spending her summers, with her family, at their house in Midway Beach. Mary graduated from New Brunswick High School. After graduating, she went to work for Bell Telephone as an operator. Mary married Al Salva, her husband of 58 years, and became a housewife and mother. Her four children were her greatest pride and joy! Mary had a great love for politics and was always very involved. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, New Brunswick, as a child and most of her adult life. However, in her final years, she was a parishioner at St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C Church in New Brunswick. Mary was a faithful catholic with a great devotion to the Blessed Mother. The last eight months of her life were spent at the Parker Home on River Road in Piscataway, due to her battle with dementia.

She is survived by son, Tom of North Brunswick, daughter-in-law, Carol and grandson, Dillon Salva; son, Alan of Jackson and granddaughters, Meagan, Jaime Sue, Brittani and Savanna Salva; daughter, Susan of North Brunswick, son-in-law, Larry and grandchildren, Lauren, Casey and Brandon Baldini; son, David of Monroe Township, daughter-in-law, Yvette and granddaughter, MaryRose; and great-grandson, Tyler Nerges. Mary was also blessed with several nieces and nephews and her devoted dog, CoCo. She leaves behind many lifelong friends who continued visiting her in her final days. Mary was a true believer in family and tradition and would have family dinners every Sunday at her home on Patton Street attended by all the children and grandchildren. There was no greater love than the love Mary had for her family.
