Mildred Salkin Ashendorf, 89, of Tinton Falls died Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 at home. She was born and raised in Brooklyn and lived in Rumson for 30 years. Mrs. Ashendorf studied at Temple, was a graduate of Hunter College, and taught in the PA school district. She was an exceptional artist and had a deep love for art. Her family is grateful for the wonderful care she was given this past year during a very difficult time.
She was predeceased by her son, Douglas Ashendorf M.D. in 2008, and her brother, Douglas Salkin whom died in WWII. She is survived by her husband, George Ashendorf of Tinton Falls; a sister, Ruth Tulipan of FL; her grandson, Justin Ashendorf of Westfield, NJ, and Shavonne Moore who took excellent care of her this past year.
A chapel service will be held Monday at 11am on September 26th, 2011 at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean Township. Interment will follow at Mt. Hebron cemetery, Queens, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your charity of choice.
