Norma R. Barrett passed away at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012. She was 78 years old. Born in Perth Amboy, she resided in Woodbridge before moving to Sewaren over 50 years ago. Norma graduated from Saint Mary's High School in Perth Amboy. She was employed in sales with A & S Department Store in Woodbridge for many years and was most recently employed by Host Marriott Services in Sewaren. She was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge. Norma gave many years of service for the Woodbridge Little League. She also loved animals, but her greatest love in her life was her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Robert Barrett, in 1988; her mother, Rose Zega; and two brothers, Patsy and Joseph DeMaio. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Bruce and Donna Barrett of East Brunswick, James and Charlene Barrett of Brick and Patrick and Lailanie Barrett of Port Reading; six grandchildren, Laura, Danielle, Ryan, Jennifer, Robert and Kylie; a brother and his wife, Jerry and Michele DeMaio, of Woodbridge; a sister, Christine Mellas, of Red Bank; a beloved Aunt Florence Zega of Woodbridge; and she leaves behind many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Saint James Cemetery, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Angel Paws (www.angelpaws.org), P.O. Box 282, Colonia, NJ.
