Orfeo "Danny" Rossi
Long Branch
Orfeo "Danny" Rossi of Long Branch, died on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born and raised in Genova, Italy, he came to New York in 1951 and lived in Highlands before moving to Long Branch in 1994. He worked as a supervisor for The Telefon Company in Genova and for Lily Tulip Company in Long Island. He was transferred to NJ in 1962 and worked as a machinist until his retirement in 1982. Danny was past President of the Highlands Lion Club; past member of the Highlands Board of Adjustment; "Chaplain of the Year" from 1991 to 1992; past Officer of the Long Branch Elks 742, where he was honored as "Man of the Year" from 1993-1994; a member of the Long Branch Senior Citizens; a 20 year volunteer for the Family and Children's Services of Long Branch; a member of the Shore Senior Legend Show Case, where he enjoyed impersonating Elvis; and a parishioner of St. Michael's R.C. Church, West End, Long Branch.
Danny is survived by his beloved wife, Ambrosina Erre Rossi; 2 daughters and sons- in-law, Loretta and Ron Prino of Wall; Janet and Joseph LaMar of Rexford, NY; and the pride of his life, his grandchildren Ryan, Candace and Brandon LaMar and Erica Prino.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. Funeral Friday, 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Mass at St. Michael's Church, West End. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum in Middletown. Ambra, Norman & I are so very sorry for your loss. Danny was a wonderful Elk and did a super rendition of Elvis. Are prayers are with you always.
