Pedro Fernandez

formerly of Jamesburg

Pedro Fernandez, 89, formerly of Jamesburg died Monday, March 17th at the Hospice of Piedmont, High Point, NC.

Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Mr. Fernandez lived in Jersey City, then Jamesburg for 22 years before moving to High Point in 2011.

He was employed for many years as a Butcher for the Evergood Butcher Co. Hoboken, retiring in 1992. For 40 years he operated Fernandez Gift Ware at the Englishtown Auction.

Mr. Fernandez was a former parishioner of St. James RC Church, Jamesburg.

He is predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Naples in 1995; his two sons, Francis J. and Robert; his brother, Louie and his sister, Carmen.

Surviving are his daughters Nancy Mercado and Deboarh Matthew, both of Cape Coral, FL, Elizabeth Fernandez of High Point, NC, Kathleen Abbotts and Carmen Fernandez, his sons Louie and Pedro Fernandez, eighteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.

Services will begin 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22nd at the Lester Memorial Home, 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg followed by a 10 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. James RC Church, Jamesburg. Burial will be in Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick.

Visiting hours for family and friends will be Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
