Peter T. Catanzariti, 79, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Chapin Hill in Red Bank. He was born in Rumson, NJ and resided in Rumson all of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as an air craft mechanic. He was self employed as house painter and often introduced himself as "Pete the Painter." Peter was a member of the American Legion Post in the Highlands and was an avid Yankees fan. Among his interests, Peter enjoyed his weekly poker games with friends, taking in the races at Monmouth Park and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He is predeceased by his former wife and long time companion, Mary G. Donnelly; his parents, Luigi Catanzariti and Mary Howard and his sister, Phyllis Catanzariti. Surviving is his daughter, Caroline Connelly and her husband John of Little Silver and his brother, Frank Catanzariti and his wife Mary of Maryland; his three grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren and Eliza; a nephew, Dr. Frank Catanzariti Jr.; a niece, Penny Catanzariti and his three great nephews, Jason, Brandon and Vincent Catanzariti.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ, with a service at 7pm. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chapin Hill Activities Department, 100 Chapin Avenue, Red Bank NJ 07701.
