Raymond J. Tomek

AGE: 69 • Tinton Falls

Raymond J. Tomek, 69, of Tinton Falls, died suddenly at home on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013. He was born in Newark and lived most of his life in Upper Saddle River. Ray attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, majored in accounting and became a CPA. Most recently, he was self-employed but formerly worked for Price Waterhouse and Mercedes Benz North America in Montvale. He was a member and Past Commodore of the Barnegat Light Yacht Club in Harvey Cedars. He loved sailing, fishing with his grandsons and being at the beach. Raymond loved life, people and most of all, his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Lillian Tomek. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Joan (nee Robertson); a son, Jeffrey and his wife, Stacy of Howell; his brother, Francis Lee and his wife, Marilyn of Union; three grandchildren, Matthew, Evan and Shane; a niece, Caroline Tomek James and her husband, Brian James of Norcross, GA; a sister-in-law, Mary Lynn McNamara and her husband, Joseph of Middletown; three nephews, Joseph McNamara and his wife, Susan of Howell, Kevin McNamara of Middletown and Jonathan McNamara of Hoboken; three great-nieces, Emerson L. and Berkeley Sinclair James and Brooke McNamara; and a great-nephew, Connor McNamara.

A visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 3 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A funeral service was Friday, Oct. 4 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 325 Little Silver Point Road, Little Silver. Interment was private.
