Dr. Salvatore Bucolo passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 87 years old. Born in Italy, he resided in Perth Amboy and Woodbridge Township before moving to Maryland four years ago. Dr. Bucolo was in practice for 60 years at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy and was a founding Physician at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge and JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was a Major in the U.S. Army National Guard, serving as a military Surgeon and was a communicant of Good Shepherd Parish, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Perth Amboy. Dr. Bucolo was a member of the Navy League, the American Medical Association, the Knights of Columbus, the Tripoli Club, the Grand Centurion Club and the Association of Military Surgeons, was named Man of the Year in 1998 by Ragazzi di Messina and received the Golden Merit Award in 2002 from the New Jersey Medical Society.
He was predeceased by his wife, Teresa Bucolo, in 2001. Surviving are a daughter, Dr. Diana Bucolo Van Dyke, of Maryland and a son, Dr. Frank Bucolo, of Pennsylvania.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 9 a.m. at Good Shepherd Parish, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Perth Amboy (732-826-4859). Entombment will follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge.
