Thomas Melia, 63, died on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Tom was born in New Brunswick to the late Louis and Evelyn Melia and had lived in South Plainfield before residing in Edison 32 years ago. He is a communicant of St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen.
Tom worked for Met Life in Piscataway as a Managing/Director for 40 years retiring in 2012. He enjoyed playing golf and cooking but especially spending time with his family and his dog Rylie.
In 2009, Tom was named to the Met Life Hall of Fame placing him with an elite group of Met Life's most successful advisors and managers. An accomplishment he was very proud of.
Tom is predeceased by his brother Louis Melia.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Colleen (McGotty) Melia; two daughters, Michelle Melia and her late partner, Lori Fuller of Wannamassa and Colleen Melia and her husband Michael Stone of Piscataway; his brother, Jack Melia of South Amboy; his sister, Catherine Chigas of GA; two grandchildren, Robert and Emily Stone (the light of his life); many nieces and nephews; and his McGotty Family.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 1st at 9:45 am from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 27) Metuchen followed by a 10:15 am Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen.
