AGE: 75 • Lakewood

Charles J Karach 75 of Lakewood died Saturday February 8, 2014 at home. He worked as an Insulation Mechanic for the Asbestos Workers Local Union #12 in Long Island City, NY for 41 years before retiring in 2002. Born in West New York, NJ, he resided in Montvale for 28 years prior to moving to Lakewood in 1999. A great sports fan, he attended the University of Seattle on a Basketball scholarship he earned prior to joining the army and serving from 1961-1963. He is predeceased by his brother Peter, 3 sisters, Mary Bykowsky, Ann Kureljia, and Elsie Sgambati. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Marie Esposito Karach, 3 daughters, Karen Langer and Jean Saitta both of Manchester, and Lynne Sabatello of Waldwick, 3 sisters, Katherine Malloy and Dorothy Cellitti both of Toms River and Kristina Pellegrino of Emerson and 3 grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher, and Amanda and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is Thursday 10:30 am at St Mary of the Lake Church, Lakewood with interment to follow at Brigadier Gen Wm C Doyle NJ Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown.
