Janet A. Miller (Cooney), 70, of Sea Girt NJ passed away peacefully in her home early on the morning of Friday, February 14, 2014. Janet was born on June 7, 1943 in Ridgway Pennsylvania to the late Charles and Wanda Cooney. Janet grew up with her brother and sisters in the town of Johnsonburg, PA and her childhood was spent enjoying the beauty of Elk County Pa. Janet graduated from Johnsonburg Area High School in 1961 and went on to earn a nursing degree from Lilian S. Kaufman School of Nursing at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh in 1964. Janet was the second of four Cooney sisters to serve in the nursing field. Janet went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Saint Francis in Joliet, Il Janet worked at notable medical institutions over the years, including Oak Park Hospital in Chicago, Il and Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ and also lived in Ohio and Oklahoma.
Janet is survived by her loving son and daughter - Bill Repack of Bixby, OK and Cheryl McHugh of Manasquan NJ, son-in-law Martin J. McHugh and grandchildren Marty Jr. and Liam - both, the "apple of Grammie's eye." Janet is predeceased by her sister Mary Stanish of Pittsburgh, PA and is survived by her sisters Carol Cooney of Virginia Beach, VA, Joni Weaver of Ridgway, PA and brother Chuck Cooney of Wilcox, PA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet loved spending time with her family and friends and made many happy memories with them. A woman of deep faith, Janet could always be counted on for good counsel and kindness. She was gentle, wise and brave and she touched numerous lives
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, February 19th at 9:30am at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Ave. (Rt. 71), Manasquan, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The
