Salvatore "Tuttie" Fontana

Salvatore "Tuttie" A. Fontana, 96 of Eatontown, died on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Jersey Shore Care Center in Eatontown. Born in Red Bank he had lived in Long Branch, Florida and Tinton Falls prior to moving to Eatontown in 2012. Before retiring in 1978, Sal was the proprietor of Joy-Ann Coats in Red Bank and was a Life member of the Local 399 American Federation of Musicians. He served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII. Sal was predeceased by his wife, Rose Van Pelt Fontana; his brother, Anthony "Nino" Fontana; a granddaughter, Dina Adamcek; and three step daughters, Dana Brewer, Arthea Hopkins and Dorothy Lewis.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Robert Lukacs; his grandchildren, Robbie, Lindsey and Brent, and great grandchild Dean, all of California; his sister and brother in law, Josie and Leo Celli of Red Bank; and his sister in law, Dolores Fontana of Eatontown; his stepchildren, Artie and Jeanie Van Pelt of Oceanport, Rosemarie Pingitore of Hersey, PA and Rabbine Harpell of Bend, OR; 10 step grandchildren and 17 step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19, from 4 - 8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. Funeral Thursday, 9:30 am at the funeral home with the funeral service to begin at 10 am. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.
