Phyllis V. Tarantolo, of Eatontown, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Jersey Shore Center in Eatontown. Born in Long Branch, she had lived in Eatontown for the past 25 years. Phyllis was employed for many years at EAI in West Long Branch and had also worked in the family's restaurant, Rex Restaurant and Pizzeria, in Long Branch. She attended the Long Branch School system and was a parishioner of St. Dorothea's Church in Eatontown. She will always be remembered for her delicious cooking and love for her family.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Nunzio and Fannie Tarantolo, her brother, Rocco and a brother-in-law, Anthony Talerico. Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Stefano and Valerie Tarantolo of Delaware; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie and John Dzergoski of Myrtle Beach and Nancyann Talerico of Eatontown; an "adopted" nephew, Joey Scognamilgio, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank her physicians, nurses and aids at Jersey Shore Medical Center on Brennan 6 and Jersey Shore Center.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. Funeral Wednesday, February 26, 8:30 am at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Dorothea's Church. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Eatontown First Aid Squad, 47 Broad Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
