AGE: 94 • Neptune

Twyler Winona Griffin Daniels, 94, of Neptune, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at her home. She was born in Orange to her parents, Naomi & William Griffin before the family officially relocated to Asbury Park when Twyler was only two years old. The family's residence and business Griffin's New York Tailor was an established staple of the community on Springwood Avenue for many years. Twyler and her seven siblings were raised here and educated through the Asbury Park school system throughout high school. Twy, later attended Monmouth Jr. College, Wilberforce University in Ohio, and Atlanta University, Atlanta, Georgia.

Her career included many service and professional organizations. She was a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the National Public Welfare Association. Twyler was also a founding member of the Monmouth County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Other organizations included Neptune Senior Citizen club, Neptune chapter of AARP, as well as volunteering for years at Jersey Shore Medical Center until 2010.

She leaves to celebrate her life a son, Lyle "Mark" (Geraldine) Daniels; grandchildren, Sylvia Walters, Jonathan, Marcus, Joshua Daniels & Lamar Blackmon. There are six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Willie Williamson; brothers, Bill (Marilyn) Griffin and Alford Griffin; devoted niece/caregiver, Carol W. Andrews, along with a host of friends, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Services are under the direction of Ely Funeral Home, 3316 Ste. Rt. 33, Neptune on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 8:15 a.m. Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta will have their Omega Omega ceremony at the funeral home. Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at United Fellowship Church, 603 Third Ave., Asbury Park. Service to follow. Interment at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
