Rosina "Rosie" Penna Tiano, of Toms River, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, peacefully at Laurelton Village with the loving staff by her side. Rose was born in Newark, where she lived all her married life. She worked as a seamstress alongside her husband at Al Dee's sportswear. She worked at Columbus Hospital in dietary department. In her spare time, she handmade costumes and bassinets to pass down for generations. She lived her life devoted to her family, and always looked forward to the time she spent with every one of them.
Rose was predeceased by her loving husband, George; and her parents, Giovanni Penna and Nickolina Dubbosi. She was one of 12 children. Surviving are Chester Penna and Geraldine Guarino. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Georgianna DeTrolio and Donna Curchy-Dufour; her four granddaughters, Patrica Nappe, Maria Writtenberry, Monique Gradaille, Gabrielle Weyandt; and her six great-grandchildren, Angelina and Carissa Dill, Aaron Writtenberry, Isabella and Vincent Gradaille and Mason Weyandt, as well as her sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends she consider her family.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Bloomfield Ave., Newark. Family and friends will gather at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for procession to church.
