Georgia Victoria Thornton, (fondly known as "Georgie") of Red Bank, departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. Georgia was born on March 3, 1927 to the late Charles and Laura Alston. She was a lifelong resident of Red Bank, and well known in the community. Georgia was predeceased by her husband, Edward Thornton; her two sons, Keith and Charles Thornton; three brothers, and two sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory, her grandchildren, Aisha and Keith Thornton of Orange; her daughter-in-law, Angela K. Thornton of Eatontown, and a host of relatives and friends. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Friday, Feb. 28 at Calvary Baptist Church, Red Bank. The service will begin at 12 noon. Rev. Robert Williams will officiate. Interment will be held at White Ridge Cemetery, Eatontown. Childs Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements.
