Robert G. Moravek 80, of Tinton Falls, NJ died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his home. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ Robert lived in Spring Lake and Naples, FL before moving to Tinton Falls. Robert was an avid golfer and a former member of Jumping Brook Country Club. Robert served in the US Army where he learned to fly. He left the army in 1958 and joined the New Jersey National Guard where he could continue to fly. He flew his own plane solo to Alaska twice and was a member of AOPA (Aircraft owners and pilots association). Bob worked for 34 years at S&C Electric and he retired in 2000, and has been hard working at Turtle & Hughes Switchgear Department in Linden. At age 8 Robert started working in his hometown of Perth Amboy and hasn't stopped working since. IN 1964 while working at PSE&G, Bob purchased and ran the bed and breakfast hotel named the "Seacrest" in Spring Lake for 20 summers. Bob was in four bands and was an accomplished musician playing several instruments including the Saxophone, Clarinet, and flute. He performed at famous venues like the Roseland Ballroom in New York City, NY. At age 78 Bob played in three concert bands and one dance band playing close to 25 concerts a year. In between his adventures, Bob raised a family of 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren. If he was ever asked if he had plans to slow down his answer was always a short quick and absolute No! Bob was an animal and nature lover. Robert was predeceased by his brother Joseph Moravek Jr. Surviving are his 3 daughters; Tama Campbell and her husband Terry of Oakhurst, NJ, Janel Griffin and her husband Brian of Allenhurst, NJ, Dore Murray and her husband Bob of Wall, NJ, 5 most cherished grandchildren; Matthew, Kerry, Devin, Christopher and Brian and his sister Virginia Moravek of Somerset, NJ.
Visiting will be Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Service will be offered Tuesday, 10:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by entombment in St. Catharine's Cemetery, Wall.
