William H. McBride

AGE: 58 • Ocean Township

William H. "Bill" McBride, formerly of Spring Lake Heights and currently residing in Ocean Township, passed away on March 8, 2014. Born to the late Hesser and Mary Ellen McBride, Bill was raised in Glen Ridge, New Jersey and lived there until moving to Spring Lake Heights upon his 2002 retirement from the County of Essex Hospital System where he worked in Environmental Services. For several years Bill was a faithful communicant at Sacred Heart Church, Bloomfield and later at St. Catharine/St. Margaret Parish in Spring Lake.

Bill was an extraordinarily devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He enjoyed helping others and was a loving caregiver to his parents in their advanced years. He was generous with his time and love. He deeply touched all that knew him. Bill was affectionately known by his nephews as "U B" and was a loving and supportive uncle. He enjoyed attending their sporting events, activities and played a constant and important role in their lives. Bill loved animals and was an avid sports fan rooting for the Mets, Red Sox, Dolphins and Devils. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

William was predeceased by his parents, Hesser and Mary Ellen (Dougherty). He is survived by his sister M. Patricia McBride & her partner Helen Ferlazzo of Highland Park, and sister Elizabeth McBride & her fiancé Kerry Galvin of Tinton Falls, his brother Hesser and sister-in-law Laura both of Ocean. Bill is also survived by his uncle William McBride & wife Regina of Spring Lake, his aunt Margaret McBride of Denver, and his beloved nephews; Ryan, Reid, and Randall McBride; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 14th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, March 15th at 10:30am at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake, with burial to follow at St. Anne's Cemetery, Wall.
