Robert Gallo, 70, of Bayville, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, at home. Born in Rome, Italy, Robert came to the United States in 1955, where he settled in Newark before moving to Bayville in 1973.
He worked for Local #472 Newark, as a Road Superintendent for over 40 years before his retirement in 1992. Robert was a communicant of St. Barnabas R.C. Church, Bayville. He was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Gallo with whom he spent 54 wonderful years, 49 of which they were married; three sons, Paul John Gallo of Bayville, Robert Gallo and his wife Valerie of Simsbury, CT, and Joseph Gallo and his wife Suzanne of Huntington, L.I., NY; four brothers, Anthony Gallo and his wife Judith of Manchester, Michael Gallo and his wife Diana of Jackson, Corrado Gallo and his wife Charlene of Berkeley Twp., and Julio Gallo and his wife Linda of Beachwood; his sister, Anna Robichaud and her husband Gerald of Berkeley Twp. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren, Stephen, Paul, Olivia, Luke, Fiona, Nadia and Joseph as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A Mass to celebrate Robert's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29 at St. Barnabas R.C. Church, 33 Woodland Rd. Bayville. Cremation will be private.
