AGE: 87 • Toms River
Patricia Kelly, 87, of Toms River, passed away peacefully at home on March 27, 2014. Born in Lakewood, NJ, to Charles and Victoria Stupensky, Patricia was a life-long resident of Toms River, having been raised on one of the first chicken farms in this area. She was a 1945 graduate of Toms River High School, which, at that time, was the only high school in town. Graduating from LaTour Beauty Academy in Trenton, in 1947, she was a hairdresser for well over 65 years, and worked in downtown Toms River up until 1994, when she semi-retired. She worked part-time at a local salon until her health, at 84, forced her to fully retire. Never having had a driver's license, Patricia regularly was seen walking, throughout the years, and was known by everyone locally. She perhaps was best known for being Polish, but having her birthday on St. Patrick's Day, and thus being named 'Patricia.' She was an avid gardener and a true homebody who loved cooking and entertaining, but also much enjoyed going to the movies, Broadway plays and Blue Claws games. She was a true sports fan of the Yankees, 49ers and tennis. Her upbeat and sunny disposition, caring ways and friendly smile will be missed deeply by all who shared her life.
Patricia is survived by her only daughter and best friend, Noreen Kelly, Toms River. She also is survived by Irene Truscio and Glenn Truscio, Ridgefield, NJ; Alice & Jeff Massimi, River Edge, NJ; and Ed & Joan Truscio, Locust, NJ, and their sons Ryan and Kevin. And finally, her lost-but-gratefully-found 'granddaughter,' Delphine, survives her, along with many loving friends. Patricia's dog, Homer, and cats Jessie and Cali were beloved to her.
Cremation was private. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St, Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers, truly appreciated would be donations to any animal shelter or food bank. But, most of all, Noreen requests that you do something nice for your mother or someone else's mother, every day. Condolences can be sent to: carmonabolenfh.com
