AGE: 92 • Whiting

Edward R. Kulnis, 92, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Born in Bayonne, he lived in Carteret and Old Bridge prior to moving to Whiting in 1987. Edward was a U.S. Army veteran who served and received three Purple Hearts during WWII and Korea. He was a factory worker for U.S. Metals in Carteret before his retirement. He was the past Commander of the VFW Post 2314 of Carteret, and Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 36. A member of the D.A.V. Chapter 24, and American Legion.

Edward was predeceased by his son, Robert in 1949. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Helen Wojcicki Kulnis; his son, Raymond of Lavalette; and his daughter, Deborah Siehl and her husband John of Matawan. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Gregory, Bryann, Thomas, and Shannon, and 7 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Devin, Mallory, Demyan, Joelle, Audrey Grace, and Nathaniel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 4 and from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at Carmona-Bolen Home For Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Whiting. Mass will be 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church in Whiting, followed by the interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Condolences can be sent to:
