Elvira Mari, 89 of Long Branch, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Monmouth Care Center in Long Branch. Born in Brooklyn, she has lived in Long Branch for 62 years. Elvira was a professional secretary for several companies before retiring from Perkin-Elmer in 1985. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Long Branch Elks, Long Branch Senoirs and parishioner of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch.
Elvira was predeceased by her husband Robert D. Mari in 2002 and her son Robert J. Mari in 1990. Surviving are her son, Michael Mari of Long Branch; a granddaughter, Jeanna Mari; 2 great grandchildren, Robert and Angela Dienes; her niece Donna Erhardt; nephews Richard and Lucia Granato; grandnephew Richard Granato and grandniece Marissa Granato. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 3 from 7-9 pm and Friday, April 4 from 2-4, 7-9 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. Funeral Saturday, 9 am at the funeral home follow by a 10 am Mass at St. Michael's Church. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Memorial donations are requested to St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Michael's Church, 800 Ocean Ave., Long Branch, NJ 07740.
