AGE: 80 • Keyport

Robert W. Holtz Sr., 80, of Keyport, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. Robert was born on June 2, 1933 in Matawan and lived his entire life in Keyport. While living in Keyport, Robert was a life member of the Keyport Fire Co., Engine Co. #1 and was also on the board of directors for the Keyport Historical Society. Robert was retired from the State of the NJ, where he previously worked as a forensic toxicologist. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph A. and Catherine (Crosby) Holtz. Robert is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Mary M. (Emery) Holtz; his loving children, Ann Holtz of Elk Point, SD, Catherine Van Orden and her husband Leo of Sparta, Revered Robert W. Holtz Jr. of OLPH Church in Maple Shade, Gerard C. Holtz and his wife Lang of Hazlet, Kurt T. Holtz and his wife Denise of Toms River, and Mary M. Holtz of Keyport. Robert is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Timothy and Chelsea Van Orden, Meghan, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Lauren and Jessica Holtz, along with his dear brother, Joseph Holtz of Orange, CA. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. Family and friends are invited to visit from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 8 and from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 9 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Rt. 35 N, Hazlet. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9 at St. Benedict R.C. Church, Holmdel. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
