John Francis Rubert, 88, of Ambler, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2014. He was predeceased by his wife, Rita Marie DiFelice Rubert; his parents, Frank and Mary Ellen Covely Rubert; his brother, Daniel Rubert; and sisters, Frances Malone, Lucy Timbario and Mary Pulcini. John was a dedicated father to his four children, Timothy Rubert and wife, Barbara of West Long Branch, Kathleen Connell and husband, Joseph of San Diego, CA, Shawn Rubert and Karen Mattner of Honolulu, HI and Mary Ellen Patton of Havertown, PA. He was a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, Gregory Rubert and wife Nadia, Katelyn Delano and husband Duncan, Stephanie Rubert, Brigid Connell, Aileen Connell, Daniel Connell and Christopher Patton as well as two great-grandsons, Luca and Matteo Rubert. He is also survived by his loving companion, Jacqueline Heffernen of Ambler, PA and many nieces and nephews.
John was born and raised in Norristown, PA, where he graduated from Norristown High School in 1943. He recently moved into Brandywine Senior Assisted Living Facility in Wall, NJ. John served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and the United States Naval Reserve during the Korean War Conflict. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. He was retired from the Philadelphia Electric Company after 40 years of service. He was a resident of East Norriton, PA for over 30 years and a parishioner of St. Titus Church where he served as a scout leader for Boy Scout Troop 622. A faithful Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles Fan, he was also an umpire for East Norriton Little League for a number of years.
John was a kind, gentle man whose favorite activity was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be missed dearly.
Visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 21 at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 at St. Titus Catholic Church, 3006 Keenwood Road, East Norriton, PA, followed by funeral mass celebration at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Norristown, PA.
