Katherine "Kay" Pingitore

AGE: 101 • West Long Branch

Katherine Pingitore, 101 of West Long Branch, died peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Care One at King James in Atlantic Highlands. Kay was a seamstress for Kay Dunhill Dress Factory during the 1940's-50's and then retired from Podell Manufacturing in 1977. She was a member of the I.L.G.W. U. She was also a founding member of the Long Branch I.A.M.A. Kay was a lifetime parishioner of Holy Trinity Church of Christ the King Parish, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she lived in West Long Branch for 50 years. She is the last surviving member of a family of 8 brothers and sisters. Although she never married, she was a "mother" to many children in her lifetime.

Surviving are her nieces Patty Pappas and her husband Jim of Oakhurst, Carole Pingitore of Ocean, Angela Fragale of Monmouth Beach, a grand nephew James Pappas, his wife Alyssa and their son James; a grand niece Andrea Pappas; and many other nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the administration and staff at Care One at King James, where she spent her final months, for their compassion and outstanding care to her and her family. Also a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Swartz for taking such good care of her.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 23 from 9-10 am at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch followed by a 10:30 am Mass at Holy Trinity Church, Long Branch.
