AGE: 87 • Holmdel

Virginia (Mahon) King, 87, of Holmdel, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014. Born in Newark, she was raised in West Orange. Ginny, as she was known to her family and friends, lived most of her adult life in Kearny. She was employed for 20 years at Mace Brothers Fine Furniture, Kearny, in the delivery department. Upon her retirement, she moved to Keyport; and for the past 6-1/2 years, she lived in Holmdel.

Ginny loved reading, especially mystery books, and doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid animal lover, having shared her life with many cats and dogs. Ginny was a huge fan of the NY Mets. Through thick and thin, she remained their strongest supporter. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and always made them her priority.

Ginny was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy (Jones) Karnatz and Edwin Mahon; a daughter, Joann King; two grandsons, George Gann and Daniel Gann; and her sister, Jaclyn Sasso. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia King of Middletown; Sharon King of Matawan; and Cynthia King of Parlin; her grandchildren, Jennifer Russell, JoAnn Dressel, Michele Sakowski, Jason Reiser, Kristin Klipp, Christopher Gann, David Gann, Erica Retzlaff and Robin Ducore; and 18 great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, with an evening service at the funeral home.
