James J. Delaporte Jr., 89, of Little Egg Harbor, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his residence. He was born and lived in Bloomfield, NJ, Manahawkin, NJ and Florida before moving to Little Egg Harbor 4 years ago. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield. James was a WWII, U.S. Navy veteran and owned and operated Delaporte's Bar/Restaurant and Liquor Store with his brother, John. He was active in volunteer work in Sebastian, FL and was also a member of the Am-Vets in Belleville, NJ and the Elks in Bloomfield, NJ. He enjoyed crafts, woodworking, stained glass, hunting, fishing, boating, and travelling.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose in 2010; son, Frank Delaporte in 2008; brother, John and sisters, Phyllis, Rose, Mary, and Yolanda. He is survived by his sons, James J. Delaporte III (Maureen) of Manahawkin, George Delaporte of Manahawkin, and John Delaporte of Little Egg Harbor, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 1 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 until the memorial dervice at 3 p.m. at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor.
