Long Branch

Anne Weiner, a long- time resident of Long Branch, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 surrounded by family at her home. Anne was born 8/1/31 in New York City and grew up in a family of 4 girls. She graduated from Seward Park High School at age 16 and then attended City College. She began her teaching career in NYC before marrying Melvin Weiner October 18, 1953. They relocated to the Jersey Shore and raised a family in Long Branch, later moving to Tinton Falls and then Ocean Twp. She taught English as a second language and was a second-grade teacher at West End School before she took a first grade position at the Margaret Vetter School in Eatontown where she taught for over 35 years until her retirement in 1999. She earned a Masters Degree in Human Development from Fairleigh Dickinson in 1981. Anne was an avid bridge and mahjong player. She could be found walking the boards on a daily basis with friends until her recent illness. She travelled extensively and was known to be a devoted friend to many.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin of 60 years; her daughter, Eileen Buriani and husband Ted of West Long Branch and her daughter, Sharon Weiner and Vincent Masi of Long Branch; her twin sister, Laura Bolotsky of Scarsdale, NY and sister, Elaine Jacobson of NYC, NY and her four grandchildren, Rachel, Jessica and Teddy Buriani and Hayley Masi. She is predeceased by her sister, Harriet Deck who passed in Santa Cruz, CA on June 4, 2014. She will also be remembered by multiple loving nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was a long-time congregant of Congregation B'Nai Shalom and then Temple Beth El.

Services are Friday 11:00am at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Kings Hwy., Ocean Twp with interment to follow at Temple Beth El Cemetery, Neptune, NJ . Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of any flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia Association.
