Louise Larson

Louise Larson, 95, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at Shorrock Gardens Care Center. Born in New York City, she attended the NYC public schools, graduating from Washington Irving High School. Mrs. Larson won a scholarship to New York University where she majored in music with minors in Economics and German. She graduated from NYU with highest honors in music and was elected to MU Sigma, the honorary music society. She then continued her studies at Juilliard School of Music. Mrs. Larson has concertized in many of the cities of the U.S. and Canada, both in solo recitals and with symphony orchestras. She has appeared extensively in chamber music performances with her brother, Julius Hegyi, the well-known violinist and conductor. She has been a guest soloist over radio stations WNBC, WCBS and WNYC. Some of her recordings have been featured by the State Department on its Voice of America broadcasts to South America. Mrs. Larson was also a commentator for a 13 week series of live broadcasts of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra from Lincoln Center over radio station WDHA. She moved to the Original Leisure Village in 1997 from Wyckoff, where she had previously lived for 44 years. She was a member of the Ocean County Evangelical Free Church in Lakehurst.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, J. Arthur Larson, in 2007. Surviving are her niece, Lisa Raymond and her husband, Paul; nephew, Stewart Parker; great-nephews, Todd, Phil and Devin Raymond; sister-in-law, Nancy Hegyi; and many friends.

Visitation will be from 12 to 1 pm, Thursday, June 26 at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Whiting Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Endowment Fund of the OLV Foundation, 19 Buckingham Dr., Lakewood, N.J. 08701.
