Marion Terese Fiorillo

Marion Terese Fiorillo, 80, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Born in Elm Park, Staten Island, and raised in Dongan Hills, Marion attended P.S. 11 and New Dorp High School where she excelled academically. She then attended Hunter College and while working multiple jobs, earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees, Magna Cum Laude and was also Phi Beta Kappa. Marion later attended Fordham University. She was a school teacher for many years at P.S. 44 in Mariners' Harbor and served as Assistant Principal at P.S. 55 in Eltingville. She also taught English to adult students at Curtis Evening High School. A devout Catholic, Marion attended St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Dongan Hills and Blessed Sacrament in Westerleigh where she lived for many years. Marion was an avid traveler and made many trips in Europe, South America, Asia, as well as the US, Canada, and Mexico. Marion served as a missionary worker in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with Catholics for Latin America. She also lived and taught in Ponce, Puerto Rico, as an exchange teacher. Marion enjoyed many summers at the Jersey Shore in Spring Lake where she attended St. Catharine Roman Catholic Church and was a member of The Atlantic Club, and recently resided at Brandywine of Wall where she made some wonderful friends. She was a member of the Catholic Club of Staten Island and the Catholic Alumni Club of Hunter College. Marion had an outgoing personality and made friends easily. She enjoyed many life-long friendships. She attributed her success in life to the "blessings of Jesus, Joseph, and Mary" and the love & support of her family.

She was predeceased by her father, Carmine Fiorillo and mother, Francesca (Como) Fiorillo, and her sister, Virginia Fiorillo. She is survived by brother, Michael and sister-in-law, Elizabeth; sister, Camille; nephews, Michael and Andrew; nieces, Justine Causey and Celeste Frausto, and great nieces, Francesca Fiorillo and Francesca Frausto.

Viewing will be at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, NJ, on Friday, June 27th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Blessed Sacrament Church, Forest Ave., SI, NY on Saturday, June 28 at 10 AM with entombment to follow at Moravian Cemetery.
