Frank Altavilla, 93, of Manchester, died Monday, June 30 at CentraState Hospital, Freehold. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Richmond Hill for 32 years, Montvale for 25 years, and has lived in the Manchester area since 2007. A veteran of the Army during WWII, Frank found employment after the war as a maintenance man and worked at St. John's University before retiring in 1981. He was a hardworking handyman, who was skilled with his hands. He was a devout family man and was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting. He is predeceased by his son, Joseph who died in 2008; and his sisters, Mary, Rose, Anna, and Frances. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary; his daughters, Rose and husband Al Castka of Manchester, and Anna and husband Frank DeRose of Edison; as well as 3 grandchildren, Thomas, Karen and Brian. Visitation is 2-4 & 7-9 PM Wednesday at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Rd, Manchester. Funeral Liturgy will be 9 AM Thursday at Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting, with interment to follow at St. John's Cemetery in Queens, NY. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the
