Michael Eugene Apter, of Dover, unexpectedly passed away, Friday, July 4, 2014, in Philadelphia, PA. He was 39. Mike was born in Point Pleasant, NJ on May 18, 1975 to his parents, David Edward Apter and Barbara Ann Dechert Apter. Mike has worked as a lineman for the Verizon Company for the past 10 years. Before moving to Delaware from New Jersey, he worked for CDW, formerly, Micro-warehouse. He enjoyed all types of fishing, and was an avid sports fan. Mike also coached baseball at Dover Little League. He was a Lacrosse coach for the Delaware Diamonds, and he coached football for the Dover CR Raiders.
Mike is survived by his wife of 14 years, Carrie Ann Betterley Apter; his son, Michael Apter; his daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Apter; his parents, David E. and Barbara A. Apter of Toms River, NJ; his sister, Christine McClure and her husband Matt of Inlet Beach, Fla. Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, July 10 at the Torbert Funeral Chapels, South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd. (Rt. 10), Dover, DE.
