Carmen James Falco, 90, of Keansburg, NJ passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014, spending his last days surrounded by family and friends. Carmen was born on August 20, 1923 in the Oak Shades section of Matawan, NJ to the late Carmen and Louise Eovino Falco.
Carmen joined the Army during WWII, became a decorated soldier, and bravely served as a B.A.R. man (Browning Automatic Rifle) on Normandy Beach and at the Battle of the Bulge. Carmen was employed by Fort Monmouth for thirty-six years while working part time at Lohsen's Gas Station. After retiring he drove a school bus for Shamrock Stage Coach. During his life he was an active member of V.F.W. 4303 Hazlet, the Italian-American Club, and Middletown Elks. He and his wife Kay spent much time volunteering for St. Ann's Church and the Deborah Heart Foundation.
Carmen will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind, quiet man who was always ready to lend a hand. Carmen is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Kay (Keelen) Falco and his four children: Paul and his wife Karen of Keansburg, Barbara (BJ) and her husband Patrick (Buddy) Mescal of Middletown, Carmen (Mickey) and his wife Leslie of Hazlet, and James (Jimbo) and his wife Renee of Middletown. Carmen also leaves behind 12 grandchildren (Melissa and husband Ryan Bradbury, Amanda and husband Michael Sprague, Venessa and her significant other Berto Nazario, Josh and wife Hanna Rice, Matthew, Paul, Carmen, Lauren, Jillian, Keegan, Brendan, and Taylor) and 8 great grandchildren. Carmen was one of 16 children; predeceased by 12 of his siblings; Daniel, Salvatore, Louis, Joseph, Thomas, Patrick, Danny, Pasqualina, Philomena, Rose Vena, Mary Skorka, and Dolores Ahlers. He is survived by Virginia Yaczina, John and his wife Ann Marie, Anthony and his wife Jane and his sister in-law June Falco.
The family would like to thank the Cappadonna Family and all of the staff at Bayside Manor for the loving care they provided to our dad and all the residents.
Carmen will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Tuesday July 29, 2014 from 4pm-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 A.M. on Wednesday July 30th at St. Ann's R.C. Church in Keansburg, Internment to follow at General William C. Doyle Cemetery
