AGE: 89 • Toms River

David Lindsay, left his Earthly form to be with his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2014. He will be greeted in Heaven by his pal, Watson. David was born on May 31, 1925 to Anna and T. Vance Lindsay in Haddonfield, NJ. During WWII, David joined the Coast Guard stationed in Brooklyn, NY. He retired from Bell Telephone, moving his family from Pennsauken to Forked River, NJ. At St. Stephens Episcopal Church, David sang in the choir and greeted everyone with his terrific smile. In his youth, David raced sailboats on the Toms and Cooper Rivers. He and his family summered on the family sailboat in Forked River. David had a passion for steam locomotives and a love of carousels, working for more than 15 years at the carousel on Casino Pier in Seaside Heights. He and his wife, Win, were puppy raisers for The Seeing Eye for 3 decades, raising 21 puppies. David is survived by his bride of 58 years, Winifred 'Win' (Goodwin) Lindsay; son, Scott, and wife Karen Lindsay; daughter, Leslie, and husband Kevin Chisnell; daughter, Susan Shroyer; daughter, Carol, and husband Jack Roe; and many loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He leaves a beloved granddaughter, Michelle Lindsay Brogdon, and husband Clay; a beloved grandson, Wesley Lindsay Smith; and very special friends, Bruce Wickham, Jane Lang, John Morrow, and his yellow lab, Liam. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug 30, 2014 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 367 Rt. 9, Waretown, NJ 08758. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Interment in the church's Memorial Garden will follow and a reception afterward in the Parish Hall. The family asks that donations, in lieu of flowers, be made in memory of David to: St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Organ Fund, Waretown, NJ or The Seeing Eye - Puppy Raiser's Fund: www.seeingeye.org.
