Patricia M. Gerard, 82, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, with her family by her side. Patricia was born and raised in Newark to William and Irma Manning on Aug. 14, 1931. She resided in Brielle, then Brick before moving to Point Pleasant in 1980. She graduated from Sacred Heart Grammar School and St. Michael's High School, both in Newark before completing and attaining her nursing degree at St. Michaels Nursing School. During her career, Patricia worked in St. Michael's Hospital, Point Pleasant Hospital and as a private duty nurse. Patricia enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved travelling, the Mummers, her trips to the Point Pleasant inlet, her coffee and jelly donuts, luncheons with her siblings and she loved reading and dancing.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Leonard Miller in 1972; by her late husband, Joseph Gerard in 1986 and by her brother, William Manning Jr. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Catherine Scapicio and husband Joseph of Toms River and Patricia Miller of Pt. Pleasant; her brother, James Manning and his wife Florence of Neptune; her sister, Judith Gibson of Sea Girt; her uncle, Jack Weiss of Brielle; brother-in-law, Gerald Miller and wife Sandra; five grandchildren, Sandra Bailey, Michael Stephens and his wife Danielle, and Jason, Robbie and Courtney Cox; five great-grandchildren, Nikki, Gia, Mikey, Ray and Eva; and many dear nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2014 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at St. Dominic's Church, Brick. Interment will follow at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt. In Patricia's memory, flowers may be received or donations be made to Grace Health Care Service, 105 Fieldcrest Ave. #402, Edison, NJ 08837.
