Samuel Taus, 89, of Lakewood, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at Monmouth Medical Center South Campus, Lakewood. He was born in the Bronx and lived in Long Beach before settling down and raising his family in Whitestone, NY. He moved to NJ in 2005 and lived in the Covered Bridge section of Manalapan before moving to Covington Village, Lakewood.
He was a very proud Army Air Corps veteran of World War II who served as a flight radio operator in the China, Burma, and India Theater. He always remained an active member of the Jewish War Veterans, most recently in Covered Bridge, Post 536.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy of nearly 55 years, who died in 2007. Surviving are his loving daughters, Cindy Taus of Lakewood and Tina Weissman & her husband Marc of Jackson and grandsons, Jeremy and Cory Weissman. He was adored by many generations of loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Taus had a long career as a Certified Master Watch Maker, and continued it as a hobby for the rest of his life.
Chapel services 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Au. 14 from the Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Highway 35, Ocean Township. Interment will be at Hungarian Union Field/Mount Carmel Cemetery in Glendale, Queens, NY. Shiva will be observed at the Weissman residence in Jackson.
