AGE: 91 • Brick

Phillip Peter DeVito, 91, of Brick passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Point Pleasant Beach on Tuesday, August, 26, 2014 surrounded by his family. Mr. DeVito retired 33 years ago as a Captain in the Union City Fire Department after 27 years of service. He was a US Army Veteran during WWII from 1943-1946. He attended the Calvary Lighthouse Church in Lakewood. Mr. DeVito was a member of the Elks Lodge #2151 in Brick, the American Legion also in Brick and the Walking Club of Monmouth County. Mr. DeVito loved to fish, crab and most of all spend time with his family and friends. His memory will live on with all who knew him.

Born in Lyndhurst, he lived in New York City, then back to Union City before retiring in Brick.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Palma "Pam" (Scarafile) DeVito in 1987; brother, Joseph DeVito; and sister, Marion Romanazzi. Surviving are his sons, Phillip D. Devito and his partner, William Bena of Carteret, and Michael DeVito of Toms River; daughter Diane Crutchfield and her husband, Wayne of Point Pleasant Beach; sister, Ann Incognito and her husband, Michael of Ridgefield; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He also leaves his beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visiting will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. The service will be conducted on Friday 10am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Catharine's Cemetery in Sea Girt. For more information please visit www.obrienfuneralhome.com
