Allen A. Gant

AGE: 86 • Whiting

Allen A. Gant, 86, died September 2, 2014. Allen was born in Cleveland, Ohio and formerly of North Brunswick and Bridgewater before moving to Whiting in 2007. He was employed as a mail carrier at the Raritan Post Office for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII. Allen was a member of the VFW in Manville, the Bradley Gardens Community Church and the Bradley Gardens Fire Company for over 45 years. He will be sadly missed by all.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Anna May who died in 1990 and by a daughter, Anna Marie Gant who died in 1996 and five brothers. Surviving are his wife, Anna E; his step-son, Richard Farcas; a brother, Charles; two sisters, Eva Lowry and Mary Ahrens; a granddaughter, Melanie Childress and a step-granddaughter, Rue.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am Monday at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave., Somerville. Interment will follow at Lake Nelson Memorial Park in Piscataway. Visitation will be 3pm to 6pm Sunday at the funeral home. Donations can be made to the Bradley Gardens Fire Company, 24 Old York Road, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
