Anthony "Tony" DeLorenzo, 88, of Middletown, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11th at Bayside Manor in Keansburg, NJ. Tony was loved and adored by his family and friends. He grew up in New York City and started working at a very young age, selling fruit at his father's produce stand. After serving in World War II, he moved to Middletown in 1956. He was store manager of Food Circus and eventually became Owner of Food City, Food Land, and Gateway Liquors throughout Monmouth County. He was named Business Man of the Year in 1970 by the Middletown Chamber of Commerce. He was also chairman of the board for Jersey Coast Finance and a Vice President of Sales for Bunzl USA.

Tony was actively involved in his community, serving as a communicant of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, President of the Holy Name Society, and the General Chairman of the St. Mary's Fair for 25 years. He was a Director of the Middletown Boys Club, member of the V.F.W, President of the Kiwanis Club of Middletown, and instrumental in the development of Mater Dei High School.

Tony was quite the entertainer who always enjoyed being on stage. He loved performing in plays, singing Frank Sinatra, and writing original songs for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.

Tony was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Theresa DeLorenzo, and his son, Joseph De Lorenzo. He is survived by his brother, Vincent DeLorenzo of Middletown, NJ, and his adoring daughters and their spouses, Sally and Michael Harris of Middletown, Angela and Craig Stratton of Tinton Falls, Donna and Jim Daly of New Port Richey, FL, and Debbie and Gary Herviou of Tinton Falls. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Goldie DeLorenzo;14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2015, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 9:15 AM at St. Mary's Chapel. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
