Richard McClennen Obituary

(Asbury Park Press)

RICHARD D. MCCLENNEN
AGE: 73 MANASQUAN
Richard D. McClennen, 73, of Manasquan, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 6, surrounded by his loving family, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Richard was born Sept. 17, 1934, in Norrisville, Pa., and was raised in Teaneck. He was a graduate of Teaneck High School, Class of 1952. There, he was an All-State varsity athlete in football and baseball. His winning personality and numerous friendships resulted in him being elected vice president of his graduating class. It was there that "Moose" met the love of his life, Lucy Christine Cilano, to whom he had been married for 52 years. Richard graduated from Upsala College in 1956 with a degree in business administration. Richard had an exceptional career as a vice president for Merrill Lynch. He retired after 30 years as office manager from the Hyannis, Cape Cod, Mass., office. Having lived for many years in Brielle, it was then that Moose and Lucy decided to return to the Manasquan Beach to be close to their family and friends. Moose became a member of the Elks. He enjoyed all sports, played golf, loved to garden, cook, and sing along with Frank Sinatra, but most of all, he loved to be with his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Lucy; his adoring four daughters; and his nine grandchildren, Beth-Anne Hawkins and her husband, Anthony H. Hawkins and their children, Leigh-Anne and Michael; Patricia A. McLeod and her husband Ponty McLeod and her children, James, Jennah and Julie Trocchia; Donna A. Morgan and her sons, Andrew, Daniel and Nicholas; and Lisa A. Cilento and her daughter Ashley.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, South Street, Manasquan. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the charity of their choice. Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, is in charge of arrangements.

We have known and loved "Dick" for 17 yrs. His smiling face and helpful nature was always evident. There will be a void in our hearts. To look across the street and not see him wave, is a great loss to us, Buttons and all of Whiting Avenue. It was an honor to know him. The Bejot Family
