Rosemary B. Gnehm, (nee Balestrieri) 80, of Toms River, passed Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and raised in Paterson, she graduated St. Bonaventure High School and belonged to the Swiss Turnverein Club, where she was awarded 1st place in women's national honors. She resided in Midland Park and was employed by N.J. Bell Telephone, remaining an active member of the Telephone Pioneers, before retiring to the Jersey Shore.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 60 years, Ernest R. Gnehm; three daughters, Berta Swirczynski and husband James, Barbara Corradino-Graham and husband Ron, and Bonnie Weppler and husband Kim; two sons, Brian Gnehm and Michele, and Barry Gnehm and wife Karen; five grandchildren, Melissa Gnehm-Falk, Kristin Swirczynski, George and Nicolas Corradino, and Kara Gnehm; two great-grandchildren, Alexa and Brielle Falk; and three sisters, Anita Mekita, Genevieve DeChellis, and Dolores Casson.
A memorial gathering will be from 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 until the services at 3 p.m. at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat. In lieu of flowers, donations to the , is appreciated.
