Kurt Jeffrey Bruder, "The Duke of Real Big Fluke," 49, of Brick, passed away Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. He was born in Neptune and lived in Brielle before moving to Brick in 1988. He was a 1979 graduate of Manasquan High School, and attended the Richard Stockton State College in Absecon, and the American Marine Institute in Daytona Beach, Fla. He was employed as a Marine Technician by Schrader Yacht Sales in Point Pleasant for many years and was previously employed at Suburban Boat Works and Marine Max, both in Brick. He was an avid boater and fisherman and was a member of the Manasquan River Yacht Club in Brielle.
He was predeceased by his father, Carl Bruder, in 1993. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Sharon (Simmons) Bruder; his daughter and the joy of his life, Krista Rose; his mother, Grace Bruder of Brick; two brothers, Eric Bruder of Dallas, Ga., and Karl Bruder of Friday Harbor, Wash.; his sister, Gretchen Boodey of Wall; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Brick. Interment is private. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his honor to St. Paul's Christian School Scholarship Fund, Animal Rights Aruba (animalrightsaruba.org) Mabon 7A San Nicolas, Aruba OR to the charity of your choice.
