Ellen Stewart Hazelton, 93, of Davidson, N.C., died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at the Levine Dickson Hospice House. She was born March 8, 1918 in St. Louis, Mo. to the late Elvin Stewart and Bertha Wood. Ellen worked as a real estate broker in Rumson, NJ, where she both founded and owned her own agency for over 30 years. Upon retirement, Ellen was a volunteer at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts. She was also an avid member of the Red Hat Society in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts. One of her main passions in life was world travel. During her lifetime, she visited many countries to learn about different cultures. Foremost in Ellen's life was her family. Her wisdom, kindness and unconditional love will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Betsy Hazelton of Davidson; her five grandsons, Andrew Bloch, Todd Bloch, Philip Bloch, Christopher Hazelton, and Judson Hazelton; and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, William S. Hazelton; son, W. Stewart Hazelton; and daughter, Nancy Bloch.
