Josephine Vizzinni Ristow

AGE: 69 • Ocean Grove

Josephine Ristow left this life on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at home in Ocean Grove, NJ. Josephine was born in Trenton, NJ and lived in Yardville, Belmar, Arlington, Va. the Azores, the Philippines, Silver Spring, Md., Germany, Bermuda, Belgium, the Netherlands, England, Jacksonville, NC, and Ocean Grove. She was a teacher with the DOD Dependent Schools, the Jacksonville, NC Public Schools, and most recently at St. Ladislaus School in New Brunswick. Josephine attended the Hamilton Township Public Schools and graduated from Hamilton High West in 1960. She received her B.A. from the University of Maryland having graduated summa cum laude and received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the Watson School of Education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She was a communicant at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Asbury Park.

She is predeceased by her parents, Russell and Eva Vizzini. She is survived by her husband, Paul; her daughter, Catherine; her son, Paul and daughter-in-law Summer; her son, Richard and daughter-in-law Jennifer, and her granddaughter, Anna. She is also survived by her sister, Marietta Fahy and brother-in-law William Fahy; her sister, Kathleen Marisca, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathleen and William Scarborough, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Josephine was the most kind, gentle, and loving person to all who knew her. She was a gifted educator and students blossomed and flourished in her classroom. She leaves behind family, friends, and colleagues who give thanks for her having been such a positive, loving influence in their lives.

Visiting will be Monday from 4-8 PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday, 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Asbury Park, NJ. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., New York, NY 10065.
