Marjorie "Marge" Eleanor (Dunn) Mockel, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012. Born in Hackensack on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1919, she worked for Wright's Aeronautical in NYC in her early years. On March 29, 1944, she married the love of her life, the late Stan Mockel (1998). They were married for 54 years. Marge and Stan raised their family in River Vale. Marge was employed by Lehn & Fink in Montvale. In 1973, they moved to Forked River, where she worked for Steinbach's of Bricktown. At age 72, Marge lost her eyesight, but never her spirit for living. She managed to live alone in her own home for the next 17 years where she still enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting. In 2009, at age 89, she moved to Vista, CA to live with her daughter, Linda. Marge was very devoted to her family and loved to laugh, listen to music, and dance. She attended dances at El Corazon Senior Center in Oceanside, CA just weeks before her death.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean Raleigh of Springfield Twp., NJ, Linda Case of Vista, CA and Barbara Fencil of Eldersburg, MD; her five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being made by Allen Brothers Mortuary of Vista, CA. A celebration of her life will be held privately. Memorial contributions can be made to Glaucoma Research Foundation, 251 Post St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94108 or Deborah Heart & Lung, 200 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
