Thomas Cascio, 92, of Holiday City West, Toms River, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Thomas was born and raised in Elizabeth. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII with 814th AAF Base Unit. Thomas was a machinist for Simmons Manufacture Company of Elizabeth for 45 years before retiring in 1984. In 1987, Tom moved to Holiday City West, Toms River. Tom loved horseshoes and bowling. He was a member of a league from his Club House in Holiday City West, where he won many trophies. Tom enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, shooting pool with his buddies and attended many dances and special events at the HCW Club House. Tom also enjoyed watching the Giants and Yankees on tv.
A loving and caring father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he is survived by his daughter, Frances Di Dia and her husband John; sons, Peter Cascio and his wife Sally and Louis Cascio and his wife Grace; his grandchildren, Nicole, Thomas, Damien, Stephanie and Stacie Casciol and a sister, Mary Fischbach. Also many loving nieces and nephews. Tom is predeceased by his wife, Felicia; brother, John Cascio; and sister, Marianna Higgins. A special thanks to his sister, Mary, niece, Barbara and cousin, Maryann for their great help & assistance during his illness.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Corsentino Home for Funerals, 620 Second Ave. (corner of John Street), Elizabeth. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14 from the funeral home, thence to St. Anthony's RC Church, Elizabeth, where at 10:30 a.m., a funeral mass will be offered. Entombment will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. At the request of the family please omit flowers.
