Wilbur F. "Bill" Schneider

AGE: 89 • Matawan

Wilbur (Bill) F Schneider, passed away at Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel on Thursday December 27, 2012 after a short illness. He was born on April 25, 1923 and was a resident of Matawan for over 50 years. His shared life with his the love of his life, his wife Verna, for those 50 years until she passed away in 1999. Bill was a veteran of the US Army during World War II where he proudly served in the China Burma India Campaign as part of the railroad that was a vital part of the Burma Road which supplied Allied forces in China. After the war he worked for the Jersey Central Railroad and then joined the Matawan National Bank, retiring as a Asst.Vice president for the Central Jersey Bank after 30 years of service in 1988. He also retired in 1988 after 17 years as the Treasurer for the Matawan Board of Education. Bill was an instructor in Banking for the American Institute of Banking at Monmouth College and Matawan HS and was President for the Monmouth and Ocean County Chapter AIB in 1969 and again in 1979. Bill was an Eagle Scout and a Mason. He was an avid boater and enjoyed his summers on the water with his wife and kids. Bill was an active member of Matawan United Methodist Church and later a member of Marganville Methodist Church.

He will be sorely missed by his daughter, Carol Tesch of Matawan; his son, Bob Schneider of Vandalia, Ohio; his granddaughters Jennifer Vanderstar of Hazlet, Allison Parella of Brick, Carly Schneider of Vandalia Ohio, Kristin Smith of Carlisle Ohio, Meghann Green of Wickliffe Ohio, and Dr Chris Schneider of Louisville Kentucky and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ 07751 from 2pm to 6pm Sunday December 30, 2012 . Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday morning from 9am - 10am and a 10:00 service will be officiated by Rev Mary Jones, followed by Burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
