AGE: 88 • Old Bridge
Alex Pawlowski, 88, of Old Bridge passed away on Feb. 21, 2013 at Golden Living Center, Old Bridge. Born in South Amboy, he lived in South River for many years before moving back to South Amboy in 1989. Before retiring in 1987, he was employed by Johnson & Johnson, North Brunswick. He was the former owner of the Pawlowski Brothers South River Market for 35 years.. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a member of American Legion Post 214, South River. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, South Amboy and St. Mary's Senior Citizens. An avid traveler, he also enjoyed golf and bowling and was a member of the St. Mary's of Ostrabama Holy Name Society Bowling League for many years.
Son of the late Alexander and Anna Jakubczak Pawlowski he was also predeceased by his brothers, Isadore, Theodore, Peter, Charles and Stanley Pawlowski and his sisters Agnes Trzaska and Margaret Wondowski . He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Reilly Pawlowski; his sons, David Pawlowski and his wife, Maryanne of East Brunswick and Barry Pawlowski of Manahawkin; his daughters, M. Alexis Dow of Portland, Oregon, Lisa Burnham and her husband, Greg of Budd Lake and Barbara Adkisson and her husband, Jim of Portland, Oregon; a sister Cecilia Martinez of East Brunswick; 9 grandchildren, Matthew and his wife, Christina Pawlowski, Lauren and Andrew Burnham, Elizabeth and Alex Dow, Karyn and Adam Pawlowski, Kathryn and Roselyn Adkisson.
Funeral services will be held on Feb. 26, 2013 at 9am from The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Interment will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
