Michael Alan Stanko, 64, died unexpectedly Monday, March 11, 2013. Michael was born and raised in Hillside, NJ. After high school he enlisted in the US Army and fought proudly in the 25th Infantry 4/9th in the Vietnam War where he earned the bronze star. He married his high school sweetheart and started his own contracting business. Michael and Jane started a family in Great Meadows, NJ, before moving to Bridgewater, NJ. Michael spent most of his time raising his family, running his business, cooking, eating and playing music in the house he built. Michael and Jane retired to Greenbriar Woodlands where he connected with Veteran groups and got heavily involved in local golf leagues. Michael kept his family close to him. Michael's large circle of friends and family will remember him for his great sense of humor. Those he didn't drive crazy loved him deeply. Michael loved his family and his home, and recently said that this last year was his happiest.
Michael is survived by his wife, Jane of 43 years; his son, Daniel; his daughter, Jillian and his cat, Little Buddy.
