Morris Dwain Smith

AGE: 75 • Long Branch

Morris Dwain Smith, 75, of Long Branch, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in Goldthwaite Mills, Texas and served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until his retirement in 1980 as a Command Sergeant Major. He received a Bronze Star medal along with many other medals. He served in the Vietnam War and received a bachelor degree in computers science.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Michele Watts; and his parents, John and Ruby Smith. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Helga; 2 daughters, Teresa Smith-Finley and Sandra Santos; 8 grandchildren, Shanoa Smith, Kaleena Santos, Brandi, Sherrie and Brittney Watson, Joshua Ward and Whittney and Katy Dunlap; and 3 great-grandchildren, Shawn Valentine, Andreas Erazo and Alyssa Longoria.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. There will be a service at 3:30 p.m. followed by Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the , 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, NJ 07702.
